Tap Dance: We will approach rhythm tap dance technique through a contemporary perspective, which the relationship between movement and sound goes beyond the action of producing sounds with our feet. Throughout guided improvisation, dynamic movement vocabulary, and creative tasks, we will explore tap technique and musicality while connecting with sensations, space, textures, weight, and groundedness. My goal is to expand student’s assumptions of what is tap dance by promoting their self-expression as dancers and musicians.
